i was wonderin what that means, then my friend told me that i can burn more than 80 min on a cd. i can burn up 2 700mb of songs and the cd player reads it. is that true? and if so what program do i use 2 do it?

I use nero, just burn your mp3's as data.
Playing mp3 discs instead of normal cds on your player will also increase battery life and should also decrease the amount of skipping during playback.

If you use nero smart start option, it gives you the option to burn an mp3 disc.
I don't know if it is any different to burning your mp3s as data, with the normal nero.

I have nero 6.
Dosen't matter, i've never bothered using the burn mp3 disc option anyway.
I'm just interested to know if there is any difference.

1. You should probably check the manufactures website for full spec. What player did you get?
2. If you are burning mp3s it's not measured in mins, it will only take up 203mb of your 700mb cd. So you can put over 3 times that amount onto cd.

1. battery life has little, if anything, to do with the type of CD being played. the difference is negligible

2. cannot be answered. it depends on the the bit-rate of the audio file(mp3) being played. if it is a low bit-rate file(i.e. 96kbps) then a small file size will make for a longer song. if the bit-rate is higher(128, 160, or 192kbps) than that same file size will make for a shorter song. larger bit-rates(128kbps+) are preferred due to the better audio quality and the drawback being the creation of a larger file size.
it can be said that if you have 2 of the same audio file sizes, but with different bit-rates, the actual play time can & will differ.

i believe there is a pinned subject in this forum on mp3 creating and understanding bit-rates(both static and variable).
