On Torrent Site their is no as such Pros of Rar Archives since Bittorrent client has in build hash-check. But Since Scene Pre's are Rar archives most site upload it in same format as unraring take significant time and would increase their pre-time.

On Person Side when Internet was extremely slow here (AKA before i went to university) my friends and i use to download Parts of Rar Archives each to get it soon/reduce bill

Most scene releases where pretimes are a factor are uploaded by automated scripts. It would take these scripts about 6 seconds longer to unrar a 700MB movie before uploading.

Pro: slightly better pretimes (in seconds)

That's not a pro ... anyone using Bittorrent who really cares about pré-times is just a simpleton!
The only reason why the time something is released is important is because of how 'the scene' works. The first group releasing something within scene standards cannot be trumped, so that is the only reason why the release times should matter.

P2P, and more specific BT has adopted their system of pré-times ... but it really serves little to no purpose because it isn't P2P that releases these files.
Anyone claiming they care for pré-time-seconds is just acting stupid and childish.

Rarred content isn't relevant for P2P-purposes and should be abandonned, but that is a discussion that won't end until BT quits paying so much attention to their stupid pré-times.

    Cons:
Having to extract shit to watch/use/install/listen that does not need to be extracted when shared unrarred in the first place.
Rarred content facilitates partial seeding ... with unrarred content there's no more partial seeding when downloading movies/games/appz where there is only one file to download.

Con: Downloaders have to extract every single copy themselves opposed to a one time extraction by the uploader
Con: 100% more HD space is needed for every single copy
Con: Only very few players/devices can play/stream rars

I don't see partial seeding as a huge con because that can be done with unared content as well. I'm against it but you cannot just blame rars for it. They make it easier but it's not the strongest point against them.

Pro: Rar files are compatible with other trackers that offer them as well and can be used for tracker racing and cross-seeding

Pro: the uploader doesn't have to unrar it after he gets it from usenet.

Which is the only pro that matters since he's sharing the thing in the first place and don't fucking download it if you're going to get all persnickerty about how your free stuff is presented.
I plan on beating him to death with his kids. I'll use them as a bludgeon on his face. -
