You can go add the info from .nfo files to tech specs in those uploads if you want. You can quit your day job, since your time will be well spend following the upload bots. I would prefer they just fix the .nfo field to actually work and saving everyone the headache of having to find the exact same thing elsewhere.
Really, just one person to go an check out all of the scene torrents? Since anyone can edit the torrent info (or maybe not, I don't know if it's class locked), why not just anyone who gives a shit about that particular scene release take up that small task? Wouldn't that be something inherent in a private community? I just tested it, it's rather easy.

Also, most of those kids don't have jobs, you have a skewed view of p2p. But since you think it falls in the domain of one person, and this is apparently very important to you, why don't you do that? By yourself as well. You can be the official NFO input guy, making sure everyone is getting the proper information they need for scene releases.
It does fall in the domain of one or a few persons, but not the users. This has been on the coders todo list since long before I joined. I have seen posts in the forum more than a year old. It has taken so long now, that it must be rocket science to implement it on BTN even though thousand of other sites have it. So much for Gazelle.

But like I said, I hardly download scene and prefer P2P releases. So it won't be me bothering with Tech specs editing unless it's my own upload.

You should join the coding team there, so there will be one more person thinking the users haven't got enough to do and should rather spend their time editing tech specs on something that is automated pretty much everywhere else.

It's a highly annoying bug, which you and the coders don't feel is in any way important. I don't know how to code, but if I did, then I highly doubt that it would take long to fix. The .nfo files uploaded must go somewhere. Making a link to it on torrent page shouldn't cause to much of a headache. And if they in fact go nowhere, just make them go somewhere.

I'd wager a poll would look something like this:

Users that bother to read an nfo: 2
Users that do not bother to read an nfo: 12
Number of people that don't give enough of a shit about nfos to answer the poll (and have seen it): 7,651

I sure that long after we are dead and our collective bones turned to dust people will be asking "What the hell were they on about"?

Ever the pessimist to think that this conversation would ever pique someone's interest.

    More like:
Users that bother to read an nfo: 500
Users that do not bother to read an nfo: 2100
Number of people that don't give enough of a shit about nfos to answer the poll (and have seen it): 5.051

Judging by the numbers alone, you could tell I was talking about a poll in the FST lounge.

    Well, I guess you couldn't.

Why? Would it be out of this world to think that 8.000 or so members of BTN would actually vote on a poll?

Unless it's a proper/repack I only read them for the rants. Quite funny at times.
