for instance: my k-lite has been hogging bandwidth lately
Wasn't a prob until I forced supernode, but now I have to disable node if I'm doing other work online.

yeah... it seems real weird... it only started hogging my bandwidth about 1 week ago...

im wondering if its the fact i downloaded Need For Speed Underground, and that loads of users are uploading the bins from me...

oh well, ill try disabling those two files to see if its really the reason, if not... i dunno what to do...

Users can share or unshare whatever files, but doing so will mean you dont get credit.
It does have partial sharing which allows others to download from you when a chunk has been completed.

If your not upload at 10KB, then your download will be ratioed down. But the download speed would still be pretty decent.[/b]

Ok, I was wrong -- I didn't/don't know much about E-mule... except what I've heard from people who hate it.

Partial sharing sounds a lot like forced sharing, especially since I've HEARD (only) that because partial files are always shared there's many files you can see referances to in searches but cannot download because only partials for it exists on the network.

...if you're not uploading at at least 10 KB/sec then your download speed/s will suck. It's favoritism...
Sharing 10 KB/s is favoritism? How many KB/s are u taking off the network? Sorry, but looking to max one's dl speed and min one's ul speed is not my idea of sharing. If u ask me, it's borderline leeching.
[/quote]
I meant favoritism more or less against 56k users and anyone who cannot upload at least 10 KB/sec.

THEY get less in return even compaired to how much they DO upload -- or so the story goes...

forced sharing is something like what directconnect uses. You need to share 30GB of stuff to even join a hub. Since emule shares the files it downloads, you dont really need to share anything at the start. Just goes to show you can't listen to people who havent used it before.

Since partials are shared, they do get shown up in searches, and they are 3% of the time pretty dead because they are old, or some buggers downloaded it and took it off or it could be on jumpstart, but when you connect to your sources, you get told how many parts the file should have and how many there are available. So if you are connected for a week, and your total parts for a file is 32 but only 11 are available, then its almost safe to assume its dead.

but you can still always request it or ask for a reshare if its on ed2k sites.

who on earth in the world shares that ammount of stuff????
maybe 100 people out of the 200 million filesharers...

well i know someone in university who shares 300GB on his computer. Directconnect really needs you to share a lot of files, maybe not as much as 300GB, but last time i checked the smallest amount was a GB and you had to have X slots for upload.

I usually share sometimes 40GBs of stuff on emule, but its rare since my hard drive space is limited, so its between 25-35 mostly.

I do. It's not hard when most of the files u share are 600-1500MB.

In fact, I'm in the process of adding a second hd and adding an FTP server. When all is done, I'll be making 120GB available.

yeah DC's numbers arent that many, but the file amount can be as much as Kazaa's.
I think he has terabytes of stuff burned onto cds and dvd's though ive probably downloaded 700GBs, and upped 400GB
