You'll have to forgive Idol, he's on the Canadian version of rumspringa which involves getting jacked up at Tim Horton's and being rude on the internet.
This used to end when winter stunned them into civility but advances in central heating have prolonged it into middle age.

Btw they actually just did a survey or poll or something and salmon is apparently the national food of Canada.

I've never seen anyone order salmon either.

My second wife worked for a national nightly news show, so I have more than a passing familiarity with the setting and it's kind of fun to see it fictionalized.
