i just have a regular cd drive no cd burner
dude?
Is that "newbie" as in just joined the forum or just bought a pc? B)
maybe rephrasing is in order
1-i want windows xp home edition on my comp
2-i downloaded the boot disk park of it
3-at the end of the boot disk part it says install windows xp home edition cd so i say schite.
4-I look up stuff on search and find you can download stuff and burn it on a cd to get windows xp but i don't have a cd burner
5-can i do it anyway?
You are way behind the times brother...go get a cd burner...$50.
They will be obsolete in a couple of years with DVD burners anyways...maybe you should just get one of them.
Well, dfanningfan, if there is no CD Writer in your PC, you cannot burn CD's......
Which is fairly logical, because if we could burn Cd's with a regular CDR player, why would they even bother making CDR-W's?
in a word yes u just got too copy the xpfiles on to ur diskOriginally posted by dfanningfan@11 February 2003 - 01:03

ie. c:/windows/options/cabs/
then go too the folder and dubble click setup
this assumes u got the files in a zip or such not as an .iso or a .bin an .que
Was this thread supposed to be a joke or what?
A cd player plays.
A cd writer writes and plays.
Although you might have an option in a virtual drive. I had a program a few years ago that tricked the computer into believing that an iso file was an actual CD drive. ANy thoughts anyone?
