Best Web Design Program

hey I'm thinking of dling a web design program to replace my ancient 1st page what is the best program out there now a days?

Frontpage - for the inexperienced,
Dreamweaver - for the advanced user.

try MM Dreamweaver MX & Fireworks MX
the former for the pages and the later for the graphics & images

great apps, you can get them bundled with flash and some other stuff as Macromedia Studio MX

you'll also want to get topstyle pro to edit your css

that's my recommendation for starters

a decent text editor like notetab is also really handy

but knowing how to code yourself is the only truly necesary tool, that's the bottom line.

frontpage is the worst program i've ever had the misfortune to use,
dreamweaver is FAR better for any level of user.

I don't know about that, a few years back I would have said you’re correct, but now, I don't know if that's such a true statement anymore.

The only coding I've had to do in a long time has been css scripts; almost all html code is perfect in dreamweaver anymore. Sometimes you will get an error, you will have to go and change the markup yourself, but mostly, anyone can make a decent webpage, without knowing html.

I recommend, however, you should learn html, css, JavaScript, VB, perl, and many other languages, because it will make fixing errors in web pages much easier. Plus if you see something on another page you like, you can get their source and see how they did it, and redo it to work with your site.


I do agree with your statement about FrontPage though, it just sucks, if your new to web design, go with Dreamweaver. No one should ever use FrontPage.
And if you new to web design, learn some basic design principles first, a terrible looking web site, it just as bad as a site with broken links everywhere.
