I want to get rid of the message (file error- you must specify a file to open) from my windows desktop which appears at the time of booting or starting the computer. I am using windows 98 as an operating system and I believe this is some missing file which got deleted in the process of mass deletion without using uninstall command.
Changed SPAN settings in sig a YEAR after it was removed

You deleted program files 'manually' rather than uninstalling the program? This means that there are registry entries trying to start the deleted program at start up.

RUN msconfig to find out what it is. Download JV16 powertools to delete the regitry entries.
