I have 2 networked PC's on the same broadband connection. On the new computer, i can't use MSN Explorer, MSN Messenger, hotmail on Internet Explorer, or my dad's secure web server from his office. The internet connection is fine. On the old computer, everything works fine, I duplicated the settings of the old PC on the new PC, and it still doesn't work. Why is it?

How? A hub, or router, or connection sharing?

I just wonder if you need to configure a manual proxy setting for IE in the networked PC because outlook express uses the same connection. Maybe the other stuff does too.

At the top of IE in tools I think. At the bottom of that dropdown menu anyway, it takes you to a configuration panel. Look for connection and change it from auto proxie to manual and see if the info from the other PC put in there will help. You might have to grab the host name and IP. I'm not sure with a shared connection. It depends how the connection is share I guess. Does it use DHCP or NAT from the first computer?

I'm not sure, i think DHCP, is there a way of checking? I don't think it can be this because even when internet sharing wasn't working on the other PC, hotmail didn't work.
