That sure sounds like Newsleecher which seems confused with obfuscated files. It doesn't seem to want to use a par to "repair" the archive for the proper name to appear and then extract. If your program works, then thanks.

I did look at the Virustotal. It says Avast passed it. Why does my current (Free) version of Avast treat it as a trojan. I'd expect that from a keygenerator or a crack. It should not happen with what looks like a rar file.
Notice none of the checksums on the virustotal link he provides match the exes he's provided in either the mediafire or ge.tt links. Jotti doesn't like the file either.

I rechecked all the files for you and in the interest of being thorough i have uploaded the very latest Simple Unpacker so if there is any doubt, please download again from these links

Your upload tool also sets off a trojan warning. Did you re-up that one?

    Newsleecher sucks. I use Alt.Binz 0.39.13

I too use alt.binz to download and auto-unpacker although it hasn't been updated in a long while

My newsreader handles everything already; otherwise multipar + winrar/7zip + hjsplit if I need to do things manually.
However in these days we need to help the less experienced to both upload easily and download easily so we keep the numbers using The Usenet in the majority .. together we are stronger ... this software is just another tool in the toolbox
"these days we need to help the less experienced to both upload easily and download easily"

Your tool has nothing to do with uploading.

    Furthermore, uploading is already easy.

    Need SSL? https://www.stunnel.org/index.html

    JBinup for others...

If anything, your tool will add at least one extra step for (new) uploaders.

You are wrong if you think we need to make downloading easier for new people. That kind of thinking is what is causing all of this pressure on Usenet. "Together" we are not stronger. In fact, that egregiously ignorant statement belies your basic understanding of the prosecution of piracy. Under the radar we are stronger.

Wanting to help people is good. Do not get me wrong. With that in mind, the people who would use a tool like this are most definitely not the kind of people I care to see on Usenet. They will post 0 content.

Guys, this is silly talk, this is.

It's a genuinely useful addition to anyone's armament. If you don't like it, don't use it. We all have more than one method to grab stuff, search for stuff, unpack stuff, fix stuff. This is only another arrow in your quiver.

I've seen a few comments about this being less than useful as an upload tool You are correct, but only because this is an unpacker and DOES have nothing to do with uploading! If you're going to disparage someone for something, show them enough respect by at least reading what the thread's about.

    1. "It's a genuinely useful addition to anyone's armament"....the **** it is. Anyone's armament. Yikes.
    2. "What the thread's about" is exactly what I addressed. I quoted him directly. HE mentioned uploading.
    3. And this is the big one: There is a good Haitian proverb:
"Throw a rock at a pack of dogs. The dog that yelps is the one that was struck."
If you do not understand the subtlety, I am suggesting that you do not post diddly, and you are embarrassed.
