I was looking for another quote from Sherman- something on the lines of, "Burn it. Burn it all!", but he actually seems to have been a very collected and thoughtful individual.

Anyway what is perceived as being courageous or honourable is open to interpretation as Muhammad Ali could probably have told you from his prison cell.

Also hunters are only "the best" conservationists since they covet the opportunity to kill stuff.They are branch of the same tree that the idiots tearing up the woods on their ATVs all the while loudly proclaiming their love of the outdoors belong to.
Ever consider shooting stuff only with a camera or God forbid,hiking maybe?

Almost all war is fought over land,religion or resources.I'm pretty sure keeping the peace has very little to do with most of it.

Anyway slave to one master as opposed to slave to another seems a pretty silly reason for anyone to die.
Instead of vilifying Hitler,warmongers should probably be thanking him for giving them the one exception to stick in everyone's faces when they say that all war is unjust.

Totally, I mean, it's not as if regular infantry in several other nations have equivalent or better training.

Thing is, the U.S. is average at soldiering, what they've won by is having better logistics/supply chains than the other guy. OFC, the other side of that particular coin is they tend to take it for granted so much that they can't fix shit in the field. When a gun starts jamming, the whole thing gets replaced. It probably doesn't help that they overcomplicate things, as well. A Hornet can hardly function without a whole crew with specialised tools going over it between every flight and you need a smooth landing path, a MIG-29 can land and lift off again on gravel roads, and you can probably do basic repairs on it with a hammer. The difference between an M16 and an AK47 is nearly as striking.

Other than that, I'm with idle, basically. I'm sure that there have been just wars over important and righteous things, but the last one in Iraq, fex, wasn't one.
