    Which is the best way to add srt subtitles to video file?

    What format? if its MKV you can use mkvtoolnix to assign them

    If you want to hard encode them you will need to re-encode the video.

    Like jp-nzb said, for an avi file you will have to reencode the file if you want the subs hardcoded into the video. If you just want to watch the video with subtitles, rename the srt file to the same name as the video file and most players will pick it up. Otherwise they can typically load srt files separately.

    The simple way is change the name of subtitle same as the name of video file, and remember install klite codec pack. If you want to add hard sub to video, you must encode video with subtitle.
