I'm thinking of snatching up a 512 SSD if I can find a deal on one. I haven't paid too much attention to SSD's in the past year but I like the Samsung EVO and Pro series. (open to suggestions on other brands/models)

Might also grab a Fractal R4 case if a deal is to be had. My (original) Cooler Master 690 is starting to look its age.

I don't think Newegg is as good as they used to be. Their "big" sales rarely entice me anymore (although some of their weekly sales on specific items are good), and return shipping (even defective items) require purchaser to pay the return shipping.

    Amazon is king now, IMO.

I agree about Newegg. They're still very competitive with their everyday pricing tho'. Amazon is pretty awesome but you have to be careful of what you recive if it's being fulfilled by them. A few times I've recived similar items, but not what I bought.

I pretty much just rely on Slickdeals these days to find good deals for me.

I've got a 250GB SSD right now but would like to grab a 512GB. Lot's of good deals floating around right now but shirley something better will pop up for BF.

Good point. I always read the review on Amazon before purchasing. When I notice a certain percent of people having problems on an otherwise greatly reviewed product, it can almost always be traced back to shady merchants selling "similar" products as the quality ones they are supposed to sell. I have purchased from some merchants and most are fine. There is always that small percentage who will cheat purchasers for a fast buck though.

I have found Amazon itself to always be flawless (their free two-day shipping is AMAZING) and I do not believe I have had a purchase that was "fulfilled by Amazon" (which means they have it in their possession for quick shipping purposes) to have gone shady.

It is a good time to have some cash set aside and to wait for deals. Retailers know they have to offer occasional bargains to entice purchasers right now, but they are also in a position where they need to watch how many good deals they are giving away as there seems to be a shortage of "cheap money" floating around if they try to grow too fast.

All this SSD shopping has me thinking about building a new PC. It doesn't make any sense at all since I haven't even overclocked my 2500K yet.

Maybe a new case and motherboard as well... Really liking the Fractal R4 and the Silverstone FT03.

I bought a cool looking case with a door covering the front once. Once.

The idea seems nice. No looking at drives, USB ports, power buttons, etc. Unfortunately, EVERY time you need to use one of these things (and it ends up being more than you realize), not only do you have a door to open, you have a door to keep out of the way. I started disliking the case on a practical level very soon.

On the R4, all of those things are accessible without opening the door; they're on the top. The only thing behind the door is the 5.25" bays and some fans. I would have included a pic but I'm on the iphone, laying in bed watching Night of the Living Dead and cant be arsed during a commercial break.
