I have some Giant porn too...

But in answer to mj's question I was running out of space and this seemed a reasonable way to futureproof me against that problem while giving me redundancy through the RAID 5 configuration, plus as I mentioned there is the added plus of the savings in power consumption, since with the NAS running I no longer need to have a PC serving files. This alone is a big bonus, that plus a few other advantages make the cost a worthwhile one in the long run for me.

Just wondering, I think capacity over here is 6 or so TB, but I'm pretty sure I'm only using 2 TB across all drives. I guess my original point was that I can't seem to run out of space if I tried, so the 10 seemed excessive for anything general.

Different strokes for different folks, and I am getting tired of reiterating that there is quite a power saving in running a NAS which for me was a major reason for the decision. I do have significantly more data than you, I have different circumstances and there are therefore different reasons for this, so think of the NAS as 'Lebensraum' since more and more space is disappearing....

Oh, Art. I'll stop stamping around the garden and launch into full accusation. Instead of increasing space, what about removing some of that old porn? There will be new porn, and any longing you had for old porn would be best served as a fuzzy memory. Also, full Blu-ray copies are such an inefficient allocation of bytes with respect to the human eye.

Happy now? See what you made me do? This hurt me me more than it did you.

If he's using it for movies and such (of any type), storage would fill up pretty fast. I used to have a 4TB external eSATA drive and that thing filled up in just a few months. Coincidentally around the same time I started asking myself, 'why the fuck am I saving all these movies when they're readily available online'?

Unless someone solves the middle east conflict, or finds a way to get Oleg's cherry popped, this will be the smartest thing posted all day*.

*Or much longer considering the normal posts around here.

Oh I don't know, alot of the old porn is far more tasteful than the gynaecological examinations in 1080P we are treated to these days, and at least there was a story, and a rudimentary attempt at acting. Now it is an endless series of cavity widenings by unfeasibly large objects.

I can't stomach butt porn for that sole reason. It's like watching a goatse movie or something. I remember when goatse was the single most disturbing thing on the internets, and now people are essentially beating off to it on a regular basis with anal porn.

No comment, I'm an amateur porn guy myself. Leaked tapes with motionless cameras and hard to identify figures, that's what I prefer. All I need with them is a really good "title", and the rest gets filled in.
I don't mind the internet start-up market either. I'm thinking back on the original Bang Bus and CollegeFuckFest

Nothing like seeing a young coed late on her rent/tuition committing to more than she could have imagined.
