Ftps are for those who are really interesting in scene and want to contribute at it.
I am pretty sure you was never at real topsite just on some paysite/pay2leech which leaks from real topsites (meh on it).
Glad underground ftps still exists and are ONLY for those who can be TRUSTED in all the way.

Probably at that point I will also stop laughing at the term "The Scene" to refer to a bunch of pasty internet types.

I recall the days when edonkey et.al and individually run ftp's(on your own machine) were the only way to share. well I say only, there was irc(learning curve on that.. and newsservers). I really enjoyed the ftps for the learning and challenge, what with the non fixed ip and whatnot. from that moved to network issues and personal email server(ipswitch) that was more entertaining than some cracked software that usually not worth 15 minutes it took to code.
I have only heard of these top sites and certainly wouldn't pay for any warez. 0day is fine but for pity's sake it will get released(wide), after some imbeciles add their malware/name/group whatever to it.
