I don't even know what that means... Are we supposed to know what file you downloaded?

If there is a txt file that says you need to install an included codec to view the file, it's probably bogus. Most of the time, you already have the needed video codecs on your computer. I dl and install the K-Lite Codec pack from a trusted source and never had the need to install any additional codecs to view a file (with the exception of quicktime and real player). Before you dl a 4 gig file set, dl the first .rar file. Double click it and you'll see if there's another set of rar files within. If there is, that's a sign it may be bogus. There are sometimes legitimate uploads that have been compressed more than once for some reason, but that's fairly rare.

This. Furthermore, if the file is posted in its original, un-obfuscated name: Linux.ISO.2014.x264.etc-grp.rar should be cause for alarm. I'd say 80-85% of the time it'll be garbage. If it's too good to be true...

Thanks for the heads up! I'm gonna download that and the new Avatar sequel in glorious 3D. The chicks love that movie, and they'll be so grateful, who knows what I'll get off them.

Trade ya Spidey & Avatar for a Star Wars: Episode VII R5 I just grabbed.

It's an .scr file, that means screener, right?

Why didn't you just download the first file and play it in VLC just to check it was OK? No need to DL all 4G before you check.

Before you delete it (although it does all sound v. suspicious) try to see what codec it's using with "gspot" (google it.)

Well, I made Rarts_Mum.Scr last night. Actually, if anyone deserves a .scr it's Rart's mum.
