yes, but you have to tell ur friends ur ip address

to make ur life easier go to www.no-ip.com or www.dyndns.org to register a dns name and a client to update ur ip when it changes

you are probably running a firewall or a router, remember to open port 21 for incoming traffic, if that's what you have ur ftp service running on...

Are you on dialup then download the other client he mentioned to update your ip.

You can ofcourse go to your own ftp as the address is just localhost.

Are you behind a router or some sort of network of univ./appts etc?

you had the same problem with a http server didnt you browser.

im guessing that it could be your isp trying to prevent you from running any kinda services.

which machine are these services runnig on the gateway pc or the other.

yeah, i had trouble with Fireserv and Bullet FTP, they were both running on my new PC, which is directly connected to the internet. Why should my ISP stop me from running a server? can i ask them?

ur likely to confirm their suspicion and they'll cut off ur service altogether

read the eula, running servers of ANY kind is NOT allowed with most isps
