Precisely the point.It is a forum and not text messaging and the etiquette of one doesn't apply to the other.
Unless of course you believe that it's appropriate to wear jeans to funeral which no doubt you do, being the lazy,ignorant,stupid,barely understandable person that you present yourself to be.

Also look at the history of text messaging and see why the shorthand evolved and why using it elsewhere is juvenile and counterproductive and frankly lemming-like.
