ok i had this exact post earlier today but i dont know where it went (searched and went to all previous pages)

    heres the question:
would it be good to have a notebook as my main computer for 4+ years?
    the specs (hopefully) would be:
    Dell inspiron
    p4 3.06 HT
    60 gb ultra ata hd
    512 memory(2 dimms)
    4x cd/dvd burner (dvd+rw/+r)
64 mb ddr nvidia geforce fx Go5200
    56k modem
    802.11 a/b/g/54 mbps
4 year in home warranty/4 year accidental damage warranty
free kodak 2mp camera and dell all in one printer

for $2438 is this good since im gonna have it for at least 4 years?

nice, notebooks dont usally last as long as pc's cuz of wear and tear of carrying and shit....for 4yrs it looks nice, but i wouldnt expect to do alot of gaming or cd-burning, cuz it 4 dvd-rws prolly will be faster...but it looks nice

My understanding is that, while wear and tear due to portability is a factor, the biggest enemy of notebooks is heat. Manufacturers are cramming an increasing amount of performance/devices into a decreasing sized package.

    Something's gotta give.

And yes Mooseman, you can upgrade the memory.
