Thread: Fx 5200 Good Enough?

  1. #1
i know livy posted a post comparing the 5200 to other but im thinking of buying this card. i was wondering if this is good enough to play most games today on high or med setting at 1024x768. i dont want to play doom3 or ne thing like that becuz im pretty sure doom3 is going to scare teh shit outa me.

so is it good enough to play games like bf1942 or splinter cell and games like that at med or high quality at 1024x768?

    how bout the 9200se?

I'm pretty sure you can play all the games you want. Perhaps your gameplay would be improved with a more advanced card. It all comes down to budget.

ohhhhhhh i just found a deal for a ati radeon 9200se 128mb version for 50 dollars (note it is the se version though) so would the 9200se be better then fx5200?

thanx pirate. after looking at some reviews and benchmark i was a little bit scared to get the 5200 but now htat u said that...but i have got 3 more deals from pricewatch. they are all about the same price (5200 is 8 dollars more)

Ati radeon 9000 pro 64mb ddr (dx 8.1)
ati radeon 9100 pro 64mb ddr (dx 8.1)
    ati radeon 9200se 128mb ddr (dx 8.1)
    fx 5200 128 mb ddr (dx 9.0)

now of those four which should i get? they are all about the same price on pricewatch.com . so now im leaning toward the 5200 cuz of the extra memory and 9.0 support. so if u had $50, which would u spend it on?

EDIT: btw, this is kazaaliterock. i got sick of the name so i change it.

looked at some more reviews and ppl said that the 9000 pro was really fast adn ut2003 "flies" on that card. but the review i found were for the 128mb version. would my performance decrease that much if i bought teh 64mb version?

arg still cant figure out which card i should get
