I was quite let down by the movie. Although the creature effects were impressive, the storyline and characters were lacking in depth and coherence. Additionally, the theme and ending of the movie seemed disconnected from the rest of the plot, and the climax left me confused. The big monster could have caused more destruction to maintain the interest of the audience in the second half. The first half of the movie was more engaging due to the scenes and escalation of the carnage with the smaller creature, but the plot threads were tangled and did not resolve in a satisfying manner, and the scenes with The Detective appearing at multiple crime scenes made little sense.
