Weight gain or loss is dependant on calorie intake. The only reason that certain types of food are considered "fattening" is because they tend to more densely caloric or in the case of certain sugars, raise your blood insulin. As for sodium, it's chief negative effect is a rise in water retention/ hypertension. Anyway,looking on the bright side, Mulder is doomed to succumb to malnutrition before he needs to worry about any of that.
