The problem began when the West decided to create a Jewish state (no problem) by forcing out the people who were already living there. British colonialism neglected to take in consideration what the current inhabitants had to say about the forced insertion.
The back and forth between Palestinians and Jewish settlers has been going on since that date. You can pick and choose who has enacted the greatest atrocities along the way, but Israel is taking advantage of this the same way the US did 9/11. "We're hunting forweapons of mass destructionHamas." It's an excuse to obliterate as many Palestinian civilians as it takes to anex the land.
