But supposedly half the exit servers they use are FBI laptops or something else and the problem with public vpns is they're slow as fuck and most of them end in countries that can be subpoenaed for logs anyway

With public trackers, just download it at max speed and don't seed (like you were going to anyway). Nothing will happen and, to be fair, the feds are gonna be more interested in your hentai collection anyhow.
