I just completed downloading half life 1 and i extracted it with winzip. When i try to install the game i get an error message that has this.






These are all of the contents that came with Half Life 1

It's still in some type of compression, the installer is just uncompressing it.
so you might try findout out what compression it's in and use the actual compression program to extract it.

did u try opening one of the .00 files with winrar?

That is a rip by CLASS. All the Installer does is extract the files from the split archive (HL, HL.C00, HL.C01, etc). So instead of using the Installer CLASS gave, you can just use WinRAR and open the split archive (HL, HL.C00, HL.C01, etc) and extract the stuff inside yourself.

Thank you so much you all. When I was downloading it on kazaa , the file extension was .exe , but when it appeared in my shared folder it had the winzip logo [on like a paper looking figure.

yea maybe a self-extracting archive....they have .exe extension...

I used win RAR to extract and i got the same message when i clicked the Install file

Wait a second , right after i extraxcted half life with winrar , i saw another half life folder that wasnt extracted, so then i extracted it and i got all these files.




does anyone know what i should do now ?

The game seems to work now , all i need to do is put in a cd key , thanks alot for help guys
