Thread: What are some of your favorite classic video games?

  1. #51
I loved Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy and still have the old cracked versions. I saw recently that it's being released for the Switch. Does anyone know if it's possible to get these running on Windows 10? I've tried setting various Windows modes (XP, Vista, 7) and just kept getting a black screen. I don't want to resort to a VM but I might because I miss those games so much. It might even be worth digging that old P4 box out of the closet. Especially if I could get it to run 1920x1080.

By default, Windows 10 doesn't include several legacy multimedia components like DirectDraw and DirectPlay. That alone breaks a lot of old games, even if they'd otherwise be compatible.

Anyway, I did a quick search and apparently there's a fork of the engine called OpenJK that runs on modern systems. Check it out.

I'll always buy and play anything zelda or zelda like.

Super Metroid pulls me back in every year or so. Such a good game.

    Mario Cart

    Donkey Kong and Dragon's Lair.

    Ducktales (NES)
    Castlevania IV (SNES)
Streets of Rage 2 / Earthworm Jim (Genesis)
I also played the Leisure Suit Larry games more recently and laughed so much (mainly because I didn't get the jokes when I was much younger playing it for the first time)
