My best songs, which have some meaning or just what I listen to again and again are:

Bon Jovi - Always (infact, prbably 80% of their songs lol)
Whiteny Houston - Greatest Love of All
Patsy Cline - Crazy
Jackson Five - I Want You Back
Patsy Cline, you are correct there, I even received a cassette tape of her greatest hits from my wife last Christmas, I listen to her a lot, Crazy is just one of her excellent songs.

Our House - Madness

Eye In The Sky - Alan Parsons Project

Here Comes The Rain Again and Sweet Dreams - Eurythmics

Heat Of The Moment - Asia

Welcome to the Boomtown - David & David (one of my fav's, I cannot believe I forgot this one)

Too Late For Love - Def Leppard

I've Got My Mind Set On You - George Harrison

Safety Dance - Men Without Hats

If You Leave - OMD

Solsbury Hil - Peter Gabriel

In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel (this is one sond that could get me laid everytime)

I could go on, too many songs are great in my book, way to hard to nail it down to one or a few.

Lili Marleen by Marlene Dietrich - German version.

Hans Leip 1915

1. Vor der Kaserne
Vor dem großen Tor
Stand eine Laterne
Und steht sie noch davor
So woll'n wir uns da wieder seh'n
Bei der Laterne wollen wir steh'n
: Wie einst Lili Marleen. :

2. Unsere beide Schatten
Sah'n wie einer aus
Daß wir so lieb uns hatten
Das sah man gleich daraus
Und alle Leute soll'n es seh'n
Wenn wir bei der Laterne steh'n
: Wie einst Lili Marleen. :

4. Deine Schritte kennt sie,
Deinen zieren Gang
Alle Abend brennt sie,
Doch mich vergaß sie lang
Und sollte mir ein Leids gescheh'n
Wer wird bei der Laterne stehen
: Mit dir Lili Marleen? :

5. Aus dem stillen Raume,
Aus der Erde Grund
Hebt mich wie im Traume
Dein verliebter Mund
Wenn sich die späten Nebel drehn
Werd' ich bei der Laterne steh'n
: Wie einst Lili Marleen. :
Tommie Connor, 1944

Underneath the lantern,
By the barrack gate
Darling I remember
The way you used to wait
T'was there that you whispered tenderly,
That you loved me,
You'd always be,
My Lilli of the Lamplight,
My own Lilli Marlene

Time would come for roll call,
Time for us to part,
Darling I'd caress you
And press you to my heart,
And there 'neath that far-off lantern light,
I'd hold you tight ,
We'd kiss good night,
My Lilli of the Lamplight,
My own Lilli Marlene

Orders came for sailing,
Somewhere over there
All confined to barracks
was more than I could bear
I knew you were waiting in the street
I heard your feet,
But could not meet,
My Lilly of the Lamplight,
my own Lilly Marlene

Resting in our billets,
Just behind the lines
Even tho' we're parted,
Your lips are close to mine
You wait where that lantern softly gleams,
Your sweet face seems
To haunt my dreams
My Lilly of the Lamplight,
My own Lilly Marlene
Sing along, everybody!

from sd's post- jim croce, men without hats and kashmir from the previous page. Of course many by the beatles.

But the one I always think of is by phil colins, in the air of the night.

Some more I grew up with, 867-5309(don't remember the band) and is she really going out with him(also can't remember but when I was about 10 or 12 that was my favorite song. Once every 3 or 4 years I will hear it and can't help but sing along)
Peace of mind Findnot
