    very few dvd burners can actually create HD-Burn CDs, but a lot of DVD-Roms actually have the potential to read them-- the manufacturers just need to modify the firmware to add read support.

    so far, these are the dvd burner models i've been able to find, that can make HD-Burn CDs.

    Optorite DD0203, DD0201, and DD0401
    Sanyo CRD-BPDV2
    MSI DR4-A and DR8-A

    Plextor have a similar technology called GigaRec on some of their drives, but it only stretches an 80minute CD to about 1gb.

    and increasing the capacity of a format through a more efficient disc layout is not "hella dum."

    I really hope we see cdr's that can read it, thats the bridge for it to really take off

    I still don't think he has over a gig of usable data on 1 700mb cdr were talking about total different things, he states he did it on a cdr, the thing were talking about new freshness in dvd-r technology

    lol, yeah. it doesn't sound like cd-roms can have HD-Burn read support added to them, so basically this is just a way to use CD-Rs as "sort of like" 1.4gb DVDs.
