Wild turkeys can fly - I see them do it daily.
They roost in trees well off the ground, and while they are by no means marathon fliers, they can indeed fly.

I remember laughing so hard at that whole segment (35+ years ago) that I had tears streaming down my face. I believe that line was what broke me.
