You can swap "delete" for "archive" if you want, and indeed I have kept copies of a (very) few movies and series I found exceptionally good. My point was that I find stuff like Plex and Kodi too mind-boggling and complicated. Of course, chances are they have merit for others who are more organized than me.

You would perhaps teach Cabby Jr. a valuable lesson. My parents didn't have infinite money and space for VHS tapes, damnit

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money

From a user's perspective, Plex is just as "complicated" as Netflix. Probably a little less so, given that the library/content may be more limited. Depending on how the library is structured.

From an administrator's perspective, it really isn't at all. Set it up once, define your library folders, dump whatever you download into those folders. Create collections if you want to group content (like all the Harry Potter movies, etc). Invite others to connect to your server, if you are so inclined. Nothing else to configure/connect/whatever. Plex really does the rest for you, from pulling in the metadata to managing your IPs when connecting with outside users.

Sometimes you are punishing yourself with these "valuable lessons". Hours of crying and whining are not worth it. Nevermind having to listen to the kid do the same.
