It's always a good idea to do a full format.
Just back the games up on cd's dvd's or another drive if you have it.

but i dont have a dvd burner....and 6 to 7 gigs of games....kotor alone is going ot be 4 disc, then come nfsu, then midnight, then morrowwind, then cod, and then, gta vc, so it add up to quite a lot of cds

    kotor 4
    nfsu 2
    midnight club 2- 2
    morrowind 2
    gta vc 2
cod is 2 i think, havent unrar it yet

    so possibly 12 cds....which equal to 12 movies.....i need a dvd burner....

Anything you wanna keep, back it up. Not just because you're gonna reformat. One day you will be thankfull you did.

If the data is in the same partition has the OS you plan on replacing there is no way that I know of to save it... that is unless it can be backup on disk or another drive and replaced afterwards.

Why are you wanting to do a fresh install? Are you having problems? Is it really needed?

Are you using a program like window washer to get rid of junk files?
A program like diskeeper can rearrange the information on you hard drive to increase speed.

    Sure there is.
Before you do the install, create a new partition. Copy anything you want to save into this new partition.
When you install Windows it will just format C:, leaving the rest of your drive alone.
