tsk tsk sry to let ya down but the xt DOES own the fx.... go read up some benchmarks..... oh and btw just to let ya know....the amount of memory isnt what gives the power to a card...so dont think the fx is better cuz it got 256...

oh btw i have an nvidia....but i do admit this kind of stuff...
no no not at all i know its how fast the memory is (the card can have 512 or 1 gig of memory but if it runs @ 100 mhz then u have a fast geforce 2 )Originally posted by DWk@4 December 2003 - 22:13

dude. the radeon 9800xt got higher benchies. ok, not extremely different than the nvidia, but the card is still better for the same price. and it looks amazing
obviously some1 doesnt care about benchies, u see?

and the huge fan/plastic thingy (not sure if its a heatsink or not) looks pretty cool. the 5950 doesn't look as cool. plus, ati's got a name for stabability
dude, the 9800xt is the ass raper man. ur 5950 will crumble to it's power [/b][/quote]Originally posted by abu_has_the_power+5 December 2003 - 06:01--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (abu_has_the_power @ 5 December 2003 - 06:01)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'>Originally posted by i_have_a.d.d.@5 December 2003 - 00:49

Yes, ATI have a strong link with valve so they decided that they would package the halflife 2 game with the Radeon 9800 XT. However, as you probably know, the game was delayed. So, in exchange for a game, they put a voucher in the package, so when it eventually does get released - you can pickup the game anyway.
All of the new XT range come with free HL2 voucher. Its supposedly because Valve supports ATi, basically because most of their cards piss all over the GeForce cards. Valve noticed this and they got into an agreement.
Yeah i know, i only bothered mentioning the 9800 though. Also, valve not only supports ati, they are almost connected with them when it comes to HL2. The Radeon 9800 XT (best card currently offered by ati) doesn't "piss all over the geforce cards", the Geforce fx 5950 ultra is very good competition for it. In fact, the 5950 will often show better performance than the 9800 xt.
geforce FX 5950 ALL THE WAY!!!!
I acknowledge the fact that the 9800 XT will often beat the 5950 ultra, but it can also go the other way... the only reason i will often prefer ATI (even though i love nvidia) is because nvidia seem to just be trying to catch up with "old" technology. The XT is only a slight upgrade over the Pro's, and the Pro's are based on (relatively) much older cards.
Just take a look at a couple of benchmark's... (take note that i've chosen only ones where the 5950 beats the 9800 xt, just to get my point through, as i said it also goes the other way)
