I myself learned a lot posting here, and thinking back to the beginning maybe it was a good idea maybe it wasn't, but i can tell you not seeing anyone's faces, it makes it a bit harder who you think is interested in friendship and who is really just here to instigate and cause confrontation, just by the words they put on a page...
I know that you can have 10 people in a room and 6 think one way and 4 think another, but there is overlapping agreements. Now face to face you can really see how people feel by many expressions, body movement etc... And i know when everyone leaves that room, agreeing or disagreeing, those same 10 people can still do that again with many more subjects to discuss...
Here that can only work if the other side does understand everyone has different views and is willing to understand that, and i can really speak the truth personally and say yes it can work, and it has, because politics or any subject most of the time there is no right or wrong, just opinions or views on how they see things, or better yet how they want to see things??..
That question said, say after golfing with multiple groups or having people over for dinner or a cigar and a glass of some sort of alcohol, or other ways on this site, and last family, discussions will be made and agreements and disagreements will be the outcome. And then the cycle goes on again, and some new people may get invited or involved, and some may choose not to, again there's choice....But knowing everyone will not always agree, even looking at someone else's point of view, really you have to ask yourself??
How much does it really change your life??
So being ignorant and trying to lie or instigate, or start a confrontation, or put other people against others, or try to use someones faith or there religious beliefs what does it really gain you?? I know in person zilch!!, so maybe taking the hint here it may not work

I know it has for people that want it too, you can look at other points of view, and accept it or ignore it, but at the end of the conversation, that is what should have the meaning, what happens after that.

Maybe some things said will make your life better?? And the things you disagree with may help you understand others?? Or maybe who gives a shit??
I know i will still go golfing and still have friends over (ones that disagree with me and ones that don't), and or having conversations here in many places and of course family...And i know that if i need any one of them they are there!! Regardless of there beliefs, and the same back, if they need me i am there........
But this only works when the persons want it to work, and not try to insult them personally, you may disagree with each other, but using words that you know are going to push buttons in people and cause instigation, confrontation to get a thrill!!, well that doesn't help too much does it
I know that friendship won't work for some people because they are not built that way, they may have many issues, but that is ok.. hey, where they live you hope it is a free country to do what they want

So if I'm understanding you correctly, what you're trying to say here is that it's not OK for other people to offend you but it's perfectly OK for you to offend other people. Or am I just being a little obtuse? .
So close to having me on the whole sometimes nonsensical fascism of political correctness too. I mean like "mankind " is now bad but "humankind" which also contains the word "man" is still OK. Or how amen isn't even really an English word so you shouldn't be applying English rules to it. Or how come menstruate isn't womenstruate? Or why isn't anyone complaining about ships only being feminine and getting to go on their maiden voyages?
See this is why I now just refer to everyone in the gender neutral "fuckwad". So instead of checking out of a grocery store and referring to the checkout person as Miss, I simply go with the gender neutral "Thanks, fuckwad" and problem solved.
