The president knows, like everyone else on the planet, that Trump will be easily acquitted

I must not be on the planet then because I still believe that there is a .005% possibility that enough Republicans will adhere to their sworn oath of office and be impartial jurors and let the evidence decide their vote.
Either that or more likely they scummily conclude in a secret meeting that cutting ties with Trump at this moment in time is what serves their personal interests best and if that by some miracle coincides with anything else then, fuck yeah.
