Minneapolis push to defund police backfires after residents complain of slow response times, increase in crime
The City Council on Friday voted unanimously to approve $6.4 million in additional funding for the police department.


The department says it only has 638 officers available to work — roughly 200 fewer than usual. An unprecedented number of officers quit or went on extended medical leave after Floyd's death and the unrest that followed.

With new recruit classes, the city anticipates it will have 674 officers available at the end of the year, with another 28 in the hiring process, the Star Tribune reported.

Now i don't live there, is the "Star Tribune" a Right leaning paper??

I do know that social workers without Guns or with police backup that idea is a failure even before it starts!!!!

Plus the State and on the Federal level already employs Social Workers so training is needed not removing Allocated Police funds for that project!!!!

But of course there is no in fact zero accountability if they De-fund the police really where that money would fucking go!!! Especially if it is the Governments hands of a bankrupt state!!!!, I don't have to mention which ones are those do i

Days before the City Council vote, Mayor Jacob Frey and Police Chief Medaria Arradondo promised to update the application process for police recruits to include questions about whether they have lived in Minneapolis, have degrees in criminology, social work, psychology or counseling, and whether they volunteer or participate in programs such as the Police Activities League.

Now this makes fucking sense doesn't it!!!!! Use the police allocated funds to train the fucking Police!!! But don't reduce them, especially if they are required/needed to protect the citizens!!!!

Yes 4 Minneapolis, a coalition of local community groups, is also collecting signatures to try to get a similar proposal on the November ballot.

The Star Tribune reported the Yes 4 Minneapolis committee is being fueled by a half-million dollar grant from the Washington, D.C.-based group Open Society Policy Center, linked to billionaire George Soros.

I can't say for sure but the owner is Glen Taylor, a former Republican State Senator who on purchase vowed to make the paper far less liberal. That and according to Wikipedia, the paper has six sections: main news, local news, sports, business, variety (lifestyle and entertainment) and fascism.

Don't get upset, I'm only joking. There isn't a variety section.

After watching the previews I couldn't bring myself to watch it. I have however gotten into yelling matches with teenage girls in YouTube replies over it though.
Against my better judgement I did watch "Clarice". To say it's garbage isn't giving garbage the respect it deserves.
