Given that even in Houston with its vast Medical Center the ICUs are nearing capacity and the hospitals are getting overwhelmed, the answer is yes.

And I am still waiting for Paxton and Governor Hotwheels to sacrifice themselves for the economy, as they promised. Last time I checked, they were still around filing frivolous lawsuits.

I am on the border of 2 municipalities Cabby Toronto was on complete lockdown and Vaughn region where i live was open and modified, the numbers on my side were always much lower and everywhere was packed and retailers and restaurants where busy!!!

Then it went up slightly and they closed Vaughn!!! , now the numbers have doubled and or more then doubled buddy..

Again Lockdowns don't work!!!

Governor of Texas: "I don't believe in science, so I forbid you to pass rules and legislation that would lock down your county/city."

Various Sheriffs in Texas: "I am not enforcing the order from my county Judges and mayors because I am an elected official and need to pander to my dim-witted constituency."

I'll give you another asinine example. Harris County Judge and mayor wanted to mandate masks. Governor Hotwheels said "I pass a directive that you cannot mandate masks in Texas." Corona numbers increase steadily. Mayor and Judge pass law that fines businesses $1,000 per customer or employee that they let into their shops/offices without masks (because apparently it is okay for private businesses to mandate mask use but not for the government). Governor finally finds a way to save face and says "that was my intent all along, took you long enough. Why can't you read my mind, lol?" Many weeks and lives lost...

It's one thing if they just not enforced common-sense rules and regulations, but actively subverting and sabotaging that enforcement? Shit, for a party that allegedly champions states' rights (read: local government) it'd seem somewhat more than hypocritical not to delegate those rights to rule to lower entities (cities and municipalities).

If your only criteria is "business is open" and you don't give a crap if your population dies, then yes, a lockdown is probably not contributing much to that goal.
