Very nice case. The first thing to fix would be to cut these out and fit chrome grills.

The first thing to shake out will be the old processor. I don't think it will quite fit into the new 940 pin socket.Originally posted by clocker@3 December 2003 - 01:05
However, in deference to your expertise I offer a compromise...why not get a new board which will support the 64bit chip and continue using your old chip for a while and see what shakes out?

the pins in the XP are in a diamond array:
. . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
more or less but more squished (plus no pins in center)
athlon 64 is:
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . .
but with a million more pins and pins fill center as well
no way the old cpu will fit the new
makes someone want to chase down the intel cpus for backward compatability
intel extreme editions kick ass on all accounts
