I hate the fact companies are doing that, buy a (whatever size) and you end up with gigabytes less, I know you lose some data in formatting, but now I've heard that it's because companies are using 1000 as the number mbs in a gig, instead of 1024. So no matter the size or what you lose in formatting, you still losing 24 megabytes a gig, just because of the damn companies manufacturing the things.

Ahh well, no more rants, at least not tonight.

I got 31 gb out of a 60 gb hd, and 14 gb left out of a 40 gb hd, thats all I use it is for is sharing.

BTW. You will love the 8mb catch on a hd.

I've got 9.17GB free of 13.9GB on my C: drive
11.7 GB of 74.5 GB on my D: my storage drive
the G: drive 1.95 GB is empty, I'm going to put Linux on someday

I have 260 gigs.

one maxtor 80 gb drive, ata133
one ibm 180 gb gxp 8mb cache drive.

about 16 gigs left on each one...

guess i gotta get that dvd burner this week or next, and start backing shit up.

What difference does it make to you? You don't know what I use it for, or if it varies a lot. You certainly aren't going to get the chance to use any of it. The only thing that matters is how much space YOU'VE got left, and whether you think it is enough.

I'm fed up of these "mine's bigger than your's" type topics.
