Thats what I was thinking of...
XP is not ment to exist on my pc. It runs slower on my machine.
How would I do a clean W2000pro install if the CD is not even recognized??
How would I erase XP?? Would I need to go back to ME and do it from there??
Cheers

You are trying to upgrade XP to 2000, this is not possible due to 2000 being an 'older' OS. As ck-uk said, you'll need to clean install it. You will not be able to install ME for the same reasons. A clean install is always by far a preferrable option to upgrading anyway.

To boot from cd, you need to enter the BIOS and find the option - Boot from first device - and set it to cdrom. This is usually by pressing and holding the delete (not backspace) key when your system is first starting up.
Be aware that you will lose all files when you format, everything will be lost on that disc, unless it is partitioned. You should back up anything you want to keep, or check out partition magic.

Create a partion if you havent already got one mate & you want to keep some files(like media)
Change bios to boot from cd-rom first =,insert xp or 2k,choose repair then format over xp "format c:".
Bios > press del on boot -up
Once finished insert 2k & follow the on-screen instruction to install.
Rembr also mate to write the key on the cd or paper.

Yeah, what ck-uk said. I edited my previous post with a link to a walkthrough.
