Thread: Start Up List?

1. #1
Hi,
Not sure if this the right place to post this but...

I want to know what programs start when I first boot up?
My system seems to be a bit sluggish so i'd like to cut down on the number of progs. that run at boot up! I checked it before and i know you can't stop all programs but for the life of me I can't remember what i have to "Run" to see what starts at boot up?

Cheers

Yuo should try jv16 PowerTools
from
www.macecraft.com

It's a great registry editor / cleaner, alows to monitor your start up list and has many more good features.

Download Hijack This from here http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

Then run the program, then click on 'config' then go to 'misc tools' then select 'generate startup log' then press 'yes' on the thing that pops up, then it makes and opens a startup log and it shows everything that starts up.

You must have Registry Crawler to easily modify your start up programs.

I'm pretty sure it's not recommended to use msconfig to play with what start's at boot.Msconfig is supposed to just be a fix it tool, through the process of elimination to find out the problem.Codestarter Start up is a good little freeware program that allows you to view/select what start's at boot.
