I wouldnt get that card. The clock speeds on it are low, although you have lots of memory you will hardly ever use that. i would get the ati radeon 9600 pro 128mb instead of the 5200, as it has faster clock speeds etc

When you play a game like need for speed underground with both those cards (nvidia geforce fx5200 256mb - Ati Radeon 9600 pro 128mb) would you be able to tell any difference in quality or performance between those two cards while playing the game?

I bought that exact card for just about the exact same price.

I was up grading from a gefore 2 64mb that came with my computer.

I was excepting a serious performance enhancment for gaming.

I was barley able to notice anything.

I returned the card and bought a

    FX 5600 for about 130.

i dont have either, but i think the 9600 will be faster and maybe better quality (with whatever card you use always get the omega drivers, there alot better than the normal ones)

    • Ati Radeon 9600 SE 128mb
    Graphics Controller:
    Powered by ATI RADON 9600se GPU;
    256-bit graphics accelerator

    Memory Configuration:
    128MB DDR

    Performance
    Graphics Core:
    256-bit

    Fill Rate:
    1.3 billion texels/sec.

    Pixels Per Clock (peak):
    4

Textures per Pixel (max per pass):
    16

    RAMDACs:
    Dual 400MHz
    • Nvidia geforce fx5200 256mb
    Graphics Controller:
    NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200;

    256-bit graphics accelerator

    Memory Configuration:
    256MB 4ns 128bid DDR Ram, up to 550Mhz

    Performance
    Graphics Core:
    256-bit

    Memory Bandwidth:
    10.4 GB/sec.

    Fill Rate:
    2.1 billion texels/sec.

    Vertices/sec.:
    8.1 Million

    Pixels Per Clock (peak):
    4

Textures per Pixel (max per pass):
    16

    RAMDACs:
    Dual 350MHz

As you can see everything on the fx 5200 is better except the RamDac: Ati 400mhz Gefroce 350mhz.

So just the fact that the ati is 50mhz faster it makes it better than the fx5200?

if you look closely, he said 9600 pro.... you show the specs for an SE.... radeons range from 3 models for each number usually.... for this card it would be, 9600 SE, 9600, and 9600 Pro.... those are ranging from worst to best, you posted the stats for the worst card, he suguested the best.
