It doesn't seem to be that easy.
I've been working on this for awile Right now I'm using tmpgenc it seems to be working best so far, pretty simple process too.

I used tmpgenc to convert .AVI to mpeg-1
Then:
I used Sonic foundry's "DVD Architect to write to dvd-r
dvd arch. will prepare, renderandburn the disk in one step.
Only two softwares and about 5min interaction time.
if ur trying to make a dvd, mpeg 1 will not do sorry mpeg1 is for vcd's, it needs to be mpeg2 with thse specs DVD PAL (MPEG-2 720x576 25fps CQ 65, Layer-2 48000Hz 384kbps)Originally posted by NTWEAK@9 December 2003 - 16:27

Mate the audio hasnt got to be 384kb.You can cut it download if you like ,to add more data to the video. It dont have to be "Cq" either. You can encode at "cbr" or "vbr".Cbr's alot better mate if you modify other setting. It chops off 3/4 of the encoding time.
