I downloaded a film and it is corrupted but plays in avipreview fine and virtualdub accepts the file but says it has errors, saying it detected VBR audio stream so I extracted the wav file and now I don't knwo what to do with it, how can I fix it for other players?

get Virtualdub-MP3. based on the original but doesn't give you that VBR error message. then go to Video>Check Video For Freezes and it will list all the corrupt frames in a "badframes.txt" file in some common directory (i forget which maybe My Docs of C:&#092 then just delete the bad frames

Mate the vbr msg dont mean the movie has errors. Its just telling you the way the audio is encoded. If it plays ok ,just leave it.

it crahses in windows media, bs player but it runs in avipreview and virtualdub and it suggests I re-encode the audio, I made a copy of the film using virtualdub and it plays in windows media and bsplayer but it says the seek will be slow so I dunno

if you just want to play it
http://www.videolan.org can play past bad frames, you shouldn't have wasted your time on anything else but if you want to encode it i.e. make it into vcd/kvcd/svcd you need to always remove bad frames
divx repair will do it automatically

    videolan is the best

in fact its the only one I use for video, I only check avisynith scripts in wmp
otherwise I would never use wmp
