hello people . im new to converting media files . so can anyone tell me
what programe i can use to convert quicktime format to mpeg or vcd.
i have a camera which lets me make short moveis but they are in quicktime
so im looking to converting them into another format

There is no way to my knowledge to my knowledge to convert directly to mpeg,
you must first convert to avi quicktime itself has that option.
From the created avi-file you can make a mpg-file e.g. with
TMPGEnc. If you are new to this start with small files first
(encoding whole movies can take a long time)

toralloradweller thank you very much. will give it ago so all your saying is use TMPGEnc and convert the quicktime into avi then from there to mpg or vcd yes . ok will give it ago

it takes me 38 mins to convert mpeg to divx or xvid with flaskmpeg
but to convert with divx to mpeg using TMPGEnc it takes 1hour 30 mins
thats with a 2ghz athlon with 512 ddr memory, thats roughly a 670mb file.

Actually, you can convert directly from .mov to .mpg with TMPGenc. You just need to install the QuickTime plug-in first. You can get it here:

@kazzalitesucks : I have a PIII 600 mhz ,encoding Blade-movie took me 16 hrs
used flaskmpeg (talking about 2 1/2 yrs ago) endresult good
picquality but sound way too soft ,so now I leave ripping big
movies to ppl with better hardware
