This is something I came across on the boards of another forum:

    Increasing System Performance

If you have 512 megs or more of memory, you can increase system performance
by having the core system kept in memory.

    Start Regedit
    Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory ManagementDisablePagingExecutive
Set the value to be 1
    Reboot the computer
It's supposed to speed up Win XP performance by moving core system files into RAM .... Would anyone recommend this or would this completely overload RAM and leave no more space for additional progs?

I'm going to try it when I get a chance ... but just want to hear some thoughts from anyone who might have tried it before ... or any caveats in general ...

    Other suggestions are here

No mate it shouldnt be that bad on ram..esp' if you have the 512 as said. You'll only realy notice when browsing around windows and using windows functions not so much when runing your programs or games. Its just a tweak for windows xp itsself. The tweak enables windows to be held and only ram used instead of the page file being used, kind of like no virtual memory just for windows ,while still availible for the rest of your programs

So I'm guessing this tweak is just doing in the registry .... what can be done by going to System Properties and setting 'No Page File'

What it means mate your system will use & rely on ram only. But certain parts has to be paged out for some reason. And some programs will only run with a page file esp' games, and xp always complains of low memory when its turned off.So imo its not worth it.
