Man, this sucks, my router wont let me make my own server or whatever. Routers cripple my connection.

How do you sign up, i can't understand it.Originally posted by 3rd gen noob@14 December 2003 - 20:42
this looks like a pretty clever idea
very easy to setup and work
people who want to use this might like to get a static dns account from DynDNS (for free)

The fisrt thing is the user name right? The secound is the e-mail, but whats the last?
The third you must chose a password.
Wow, that was hard! LOL! (explaining registration)
Here's the problem. Easily 80% of the Kazaa network, is behind 56K. 99% of them have no better than DSL. Very, VERY few Kazaa users can upload at more than 16KB/sec, or at least that is the experience I have had on every Supernode I've been on.
Since Kazaa's members are mostly dialup, it's all about strength in numbers. Downloading a typical 5MB MP3 file from a dialup user is going to take at least half an hour, and that's if they dedicate all of their connection to transferring that file to you. Not likely. What's more likely is they're trying to download 100 porn movies. (OK, that's a generalization but you get the idea.)
Now, downloading from TEN dialuppers, you can get the song in 3 minutes (30/10=3) IF they're all dedicated to you getting that file. Luckily, there are a few DSL users who can send a little bit more than twice 56K (128K, some are lucky and have 256K up) without hurting their downloads.
Sorry, but this idea wouldn't work, unless you get some people with really high speed connections to support it. And then... no. Cuz then where do the files go? To people too slow to share them.
Something tells me you're thinking in terms of person to person, private trading. Try DirectConnect, though I could never get it to work. People could get my files, but I couldn't download a single byte of data. Hmm.
And what's wrong with this? Only friends ,no fakes i think.Something tells me you're thinking in terms of person to person, private trading
