Um well if that is the 2.4Ghz C then it is very overclockable. The 2500XP is also very overclockable. The AMD system has a better mobo and better ram. Im really not sure...do you like Intel or AMD better? Both systems are about the same but I think im gona have to go with the AMD one here.

Well to be a completly fair price comparison between the Intel and AMD wouldn't you use a deluxe Asus board for the Intel system and use the same RAM in both systems? That would make the AMD system even more of a lower price than the Intel.

As you can see AMD is the clear price winner.
As for performance? I can't tell you which would be faster without a lot of testing.

I say AMD wins here but the final choice is yours.

Personally,I say go with the AMD. I have used AMD's and Intels in the past and never seen too much of a difference .My XP2200+ that was clocked up to just under 2 ghz ran just as fast and worked just as well as any P4 I have ever used, not any noticable difference and over 150 bucks cheaper than the equivalent Intel.Maybe I am just cheap but I prefer the same performance but just a bit cheaper.

If you go for the AMD setup with the Asus board your OCing options are far easier.
If you're into that sort of thing...

Intel is already famous and reliable.

If I were you, looking at your budget, I would choose AMD. For the money that you have you could put together a respectable system...one to last you for say another year.

You could easily afford the 2500 barton chip as well as a motherboard for the same price as you would have to pay for the intel chip itself.
