this is the first time ive seen a movie in .dat format, so excuse me if i seem n00bish. how do i burn it? and again, if this has been answered alreaady, kindly point me to it, cuz i cant seem to find anything.

if kazaa said the download is finished and it remains a .dat file you need to change the filename to .mpg or .avi

nope, heres the file name "cold creek manor disk2.DAT" i renamed disc 1 to iso and tried mounting it, but nothing happens.

well I checked sn & looks like you got dats ?
http://vcdgear.com/ get that and run it, pick dat to mpeg then burn it with nero as vcd or svcd depending on what gsopt tells you
mpeg 2 =svcd
mpeg 1=vcd

a DAT file is usually an MPEG that's been formatted for VCD compliance. you can just open it with a movie player like WMP, or you can create a VCD project with Nero (or whatever you use to burn) and drop the file into it.

Use Gspot to find out with which codec it was encoded. It is probably a MPG/MPEG but if it is not, you can re-encode it using TMPGenc Plus.
