Hi, If you're interested, I'm about ready to part with my laptop and I believe it covers all of your requirements if not more. It's worth about £1000 but I'm willing to sell it for around £600.

Give me 10 minutes and I'll post the system specs.

    'P2MMX' isn't a chip.

There was the Pentium, then the Pentium Pro, then the Pentium MMX and after that the Pentium 2 (which happens to have MMX support, as do all modern CPUs).

There's no such thing as a CPU branded "P2MMX".

Nope, no-one seemed to be able to provide any easy way of testing where the fault lies. At some point I might risk it and buy a new battery, but it's quite a big risk

I'm sure it will make a very attractive candle holder till then.

It still works fine on AC power

I can still use it in uni, in lectures or in labs, just have to find a plug point. A minor inconvenience.

I can also still use it here, so WeeMouse and I can be online at the same time (no more fighting over the keyboard ).

But it's not as convenient as having a working battery - so I'd not recommend going via eBay for getting a laptop. Too many things can go wrong. Things could have been worse for me.

So, all you need to do is carry a 50ft extension cord with you at all times and you're good to go, eh?
