I have aol installed, it says there is a modem built into it, but when i plg it into the phone line....nothing happens. Argggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Right, its been a while since I dealt with 56k, tried opening up internet explorer, clicking file and connect i take it?

Do you have BT Answer 1571 on your phone line, or anything else that changes the dial tone? If so then that's what's causing your modem to fail to connect.Originally posted by lilmiss@28 December 2003 - 18:32

Also try disabling "caller waiting" services if they're active.
